CP Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has confirmed the sacking of four police officers linked to the killing of seven traders in Owode-Onirin.
The tragic event took place in August 2025 amid a confrontation between land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin region.
Speaking to the press at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ikeja on Thursday, March 5, 2026, Jimoh stated that an investigation into the Owode-Onirin killings is still in progress.
He revealed that the officers, who were brought from Nasarawa by the primary suspect known as 'Ariori', participated in the illegal shootings.
Jimoh reassured the public that justice would prevail, mentioning ballistic and autopsy reports that will play a significant role in prosecuting the offenders.
He emphasized that the matter has not been overlooked, encouraging victims' families and the community to understand that no one would deter the pursuit of justice.
"We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone," Jimoh asserted.
He also stated that all suspects would face legal action, affirming that the judicial system is prepared to address every case.
The commissioner highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to upholding its constitutional responsibilities for maintaining peace, adding that no individual or group can hinder the pursuit of justice.
He indicated that 98% of the investigation had been completed, assuring citizens that police efforts will continue to safeguard the residents of Lagos.
Jimoh urged both residents and traders to stay alert, reinforcing the police's dedication to ensuring safety and delivering justice.
