LeBron James has officially set a new NBA record by appearing in his 1,612th regular-season game, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a dramatic 105-104 win against the Orlando Magic.

The 41-year-old basketball legend broke Robert Parish's previous record of 1,611 games, established after Parish retired in 1997. In addition to setting this new record, James has already been recognized as the top player in NBA history when including his 292 playoff games, totaling an impressive 1,904 appearances throughout his career.

The record-breaking match ended on a high note, as the Lakers clinched victory with a game-winning three-pointer from Luka Kennard. In this game, James registered 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Now in his historic 23rd season, James holds multiple records in the NBA, including total points scored, most field goals made, field goals attempted, and the longest streak of consecutive regular-season games with at least 10 points scored, which stands at 1,297 games.

Reflecting on his preparation for this significant game, James stated that he approached it like any of his previous 1,611 games.

"It was a regular prep day," he remarked. "I knew that once I stepped onto the floor I would be breaking the record, and that’s a pretty cool thing."

He added, "I mentioned the other night that the best contribution you can make for your teammates is staying available, and I have made it a point to be there for them throughout my two-decade-long career."

When considering playoff appearances, James’ total of 1,904 games puts him well ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who stands in second place with 1,797 games, while Robert Parish holds third with 1,795 appearances.
