Premier League champions Liverpool have finalized a £60 million agreement for the acquisition of defender Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais. The young center-back will transition to Anfield this upcoming summer.
The 20-year-old player successfully underwent his medical examination on Deadline Day and is scheduled to officially join the team on July 1.
Liverpool will pay a base fee of £55 million, complemented by a possible £5 million in performance-related bonuses.
The club announced on its official website, ‘Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais, with the defender expected to join the team for the 2026-27 season, pending work permit and international clearance.’
Furthermore, the Reds have secured a long-term contract for the 20-year-old, allowing him to fulfill the remainder of the current Ligue 1 season before making the move to Anfield in the summer.
Jacquet, who has represented France at the U21 level five times, has appeared in 18 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes this season. In total, he has played 31 times for the club since making his debut in January 2024, including a loan period with Clermont Foot.
In 2024, Jacquet played a crucial role in helping France reach the finals of the U19 European Championship, where he was recognized as part of the Team of the Tournament.
