In his recent performance, he contributed to Nigeria's 2-1 win over Iran during the opening match of a four-nation invitational tournament, signifying a solid return to form.

The goalkeeper has since returned to Italy, where he is anticipated to undergo further evaluations and commence his recovery at his club, Udinese.

With Okoye unavailable, head coach Eric Chelle will now look to Adebayo Adeleye and Francis Uzoho, who are set to vie for the goalkeeper position in the upcoming match.
