Residents apprehended a man identified as Joseph after he was reportedly caught with a collection of women's underwear concealed in a nylon bag in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred during the night of Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Ikare Junction.
In a video that has since gone viral, the suspect claimed he traveled from the Akoko region to Owo in search of job opportunities.
He asserted that he stumbled upon the underwear at a spot where he had gone to bathe and decided to take them with him.
Additionally, he alleged that he previously encountered a mentally challenged woman with whom he claimed to have engaged in sexual relations, stating that she handed him the bag containing the underwear.
Eyewitnesses reported that local youths raised questions about the man’s intentions and accused him of possibly engaging in ritual activities often associated with internet fraud.
The suspect denied all allegations against him repeatedly.
Tensions escalated when some angry locals attempted to assault him, but others intervened to prevent the situation from becoming violent.
