A family in Nigeria is preparing for the funeral of ten members who tragically died in a road accident while returning from Christmas celebrations.

The deceased included Chidi Ejimnkeonye, a customs officer, along with his wife Ijeoma, their four children, and four other family members. The unfortunate incident occurred along the Loko-Nasarawa road.

The family was returning to their home in Abuja from the eastern part of the country when the accident took place on January 6, 2026. The entire community is in a state of shock and is mourning the loss.

The memorial service for the victims is set for March 20, 2026, at Ogboko, located in the Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.

Mbuba Richy, a family member, took to Facebook on February 26 to share the obituary. He expressed his grief with a heartfelt message, referring to Chidi as a beloved brother and a devoted family provider who was taken too soon. Richy lamented the loss of Chidi and the entire family, stating, “I keep on asking why this happened? My heart can’t stop being heavy over this.”

The community continues to grieve as they prepare to pay their last respects to those who were lost in this tragic event.
