The body of Ebubechukwu Ihionu, previously listed as missing in Jos, has been located in the mortuary facilities of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital. The discovery was confirmed on Thursday, April 2, 2026, by Danja Dafwam Yaks via a social media post.
Ihionu had been reported missing by his relatives on Wednesday, April 1, amidst a wave of unrest that affected numerous neighbourhoods within the Jos North Local Government Area. This conflict was an escalation from an earlier attack on Palm Sunday at Angwan Rukuba, also in Jos North.
The initial incident significantly heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns about retaliatory actions, which subsequently materialised as organised disturbances in several parts of Jos.
The violence reportedly commenced around 9:30 a.m. in the Nasarawa area of Jos North. It rapidly spread to other vulnerable locations, including Katako Junction, Farin Gada, Gada Biu, Angwan Rogo, Rikos, and surrounding districts.
The situation worsened as individuals exploited the heightened tension to perpetrate vandalism and instigate further conflict across the affected zones.
In response, military personnel from the Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army, part of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), along with special forces and other security agencies, were promptly dispatched to the critical areas.
This rapid and coordinated intervention was instrumental in bringing the disturbances under control before they could escalate into widespread inter- communal violence.
