A newborn has been forcibly taken from her 19-year-old mother in Kidnawi 2, Maraban Gurku, located within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The community, situated approximately 18 kilometers from the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was shaken by this incident that unfolded on Saturday night.
The mother, identified as Aisha, detailed how the attackers barged into her room at around 11 PM while she was asleep with her baby.
"I was resting when I heard a loud banging on my door. Before I could react, two strong men broke in. One of them seized my neck and muffled my mouth, while the other took my baby and fled," she recounted.
Aisha expressed that she attempted to call for help, but was unable to get immediate assistance, particularly since her husband was in Lagos at that moment.
Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo, the recognized community leader, verified the incident and indicated that it has since been reported to the police.
Law enforcement agents have initiated efforts to locate the suspects involved, however, no significant leads have emerged as of now.
A neighbor revealed that the residents only became aware of Aisha's distress after the attackers had escaped.
Community members have mobilized to search for any possible clues but have not yet yielded any results.
SP Rahman Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, stated, "Please confirm with local residents whether they reported this incident, as I have not yet been informed about it."
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information that could aid in recovering the newborn or identifying the perpetrators to step forward.
