The Super Eagles of Nigeria engaged in a riveting contest ending in a 2-2 draw against Jordan on Tuesday during the four-nation friendly tournament in Antalya, Turkey.

Eric Chelle’s team bounced back after conceding an early goal to Mousa Tamari. They managed to take the lead through goals from Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Fernandez, although Mohammad Al-Daoud later equalized late in the game, leaving Nigeria with a commendable performance despite being reduced to ten men towards the end.

Nigeria concluded the tournament with one victory and one draw, earning a total of four points to outpace second-placed Iran and secure the championship.

The match commenced with Jordan taking the lead in the 17th minute, when Tamari capitalized on a well-executed free-kick, forcing Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho to redirect the ball into his own net.

Chelle expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's initial showing, yet they improved significantly, nearly equalizing through Akor Adams, who redirected Raphael Onyedika's effort into the net, only to be flagged offside.

The equalizer came in the 25th minute courtesy of Simon, who adeptly controlled a blocked shot from Lookman and fired a low drive that found the bottom corner.

The comeback was completed when Fernandez scored his first international goal on his full Eagles debut, tapping in a deep cross from Bright Osayi-Samuel to put Nigeria ahead 2-1.

Adeleye Adebayo stepped in for the injured Uzoho, marking his second appearance, but he was unable to prevent Al-Daoud from scoring the equalizer through his legs.

Alex Iwobi received a red card for retaliating against a Jordan player, yet Nigeria managed to maintain their position to secure a point.

This draw marks the first even stalemate between the two nations as Nigeria continued their impressive record against Middle Eastern teams in Turkey.

Additionally, this victory marks the second friendly tournament win for Nigeria in less than a year, following their success in the 2025 Unity Cup held in London last May.

Under Chelle’s leadership, the Super Eagles are now enjoying a commendable seven-match unbeaten streak in regular time.
