Nigerian Army Successfully Prevents Kidnapping and Aids Victims in Taraba

The Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade has thwarted a kidnapping and robbery operation in Taraba State, rescuing two individuals. The incident occurred on Friday along the Wukari–Ikyior Road, as reported by Army officials.

Troops from the Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade, part of Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully interrupted an attempted kidnapping and robbery along the Wukari–Ikyior Road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, rescuing two individuals, as reported on Saturday.

According to Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the incident took place on Friday.

Mr. Muhammad explained that the soldiers stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Wukari quickly responded to emergency calls after suspected criminals blocked the road and assaulted travelers.

“When the troops arrived, the assailants fled into the nearby bushes, leaving their victims behind and escaping with their motorcycle,” he stated.

The individuals rescued were identified as Terso Kerso, age 48, and Udongu Terbo, age 42, both residents of the Ikyior community within Wukari LGA. At the time of their rescue, they were reportedly unconscious and were immediately transported to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, for urgent medical care.

After the incident, the army reported that it had ramped up patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further criminal activities and assure local residents and travelers of a consistent security presence.

Kingsley Uwa, the Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, praised the soldiers for their prompt reaction and professionalism, emphasizing that their timely actions averted potential fatalities.

Mr. Uwa reiterated the Nigerian Army’s dedication to proactive initiatives throughout their operational area and encouraged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to bolster ongoing security measures.
