A woman, identified as Brooke Ayers, 47, was taken into custody after allegedly fabricating a story about her former boyfriend intending to bring explosives onto a flight. The incident occurred last Wednesday, April 8, in New Mexico.

Ayers reportedly contacted American Airlines to claim she had knowledge that her ex-boyfriend would be carrying a bomb on his flight departing from the Roswell Air Center airport later that day. The man in question, a 34-year-old visitor from Indiana, was consequently intercepted by law enforcement.

As authorities scrambled to manage the situation, airport traffic was rerouted. The ex-boyfriend was detained, and his rented vehicle was subjected to a search by the bomb squad.

Following a thorough examination, investigators concluded that the man was not in possession of any explosives. He was subsequently released.

Officials from the Roswell Police Department stated that their investigation revealed Ayers made the false claim subsequent to an argument with the 34-year-old man the preceding evening, which also marked the end of their relationship.

When police approached Ayers at her residence to question her about the incident, she reportedly became combative.

According to the police report, Ayers threatened an officer with a knife, prompting officers to place her in handcuffs to transport her for questioning.

During the handcuffing process, Ayers reportedly resisted and scratched one of the officers.

She now faces multiple charges, including making a bomb scare, aggravated assault on a peace officer, battery upon a peace officer, and resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer.
