Joy William, a Nigerian registered nurse residing in the US, has made a bold statement claiming that she can earn what a Nigerian doctor takes home in a month within just two hours of work.
This assertion was shared on social media platform X on February 16, 2026, where she voiced her concerns to Nigerian doctors who she feels undervalue nurses.
In her post, William stated, "For those Nigerian doctors who look down on nurses, just know that as a registered nurse, it takes me only two hours to earn what a Nigerian doctor will earn in one month."
She continued, "No lengthy explanation is needed, but it’s a reminder that sometimes your fate is closely linked to where you are."
William highlighted the similarities in effort and intellect between professionals in healthcare but pointed out the stark contrast in their rewards, saying, "Same hard work. Same intelligence. Completely different reward."
She encouraged her audience to seize opportunities for advancement if they arise, stating, "If life gives you the chance to grow, relocate, or improve... take it. Comfort zones seldom enhance financial situations."
Additionally, she expressed admiration for professionals working diligently in Nigeria but urged them never to apologize for opting for a path that allows them to evolve and prosper.
William's statement has sparked conversations regarding the disparity in earnings and recognition between healthcare professionals in different locations.
