The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has revealed its intention to incorporate drones and solar-powered technology in a bid to safeguard vital national infrastructures throughout the country.
This announcement was made by Commandant General Ahmed Audi during a strategic meeting with all state commandants, heads of stores, and other senior management personnel at the Corps’ headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
In his first gathering with the management team following his reappointment, Audi emphasized a strategic overhaul in the fight against crime, indicating a shift towards a more proactive approach.
He elaborated on the Corps’ renewed commitment to enhancing capacity building and training, underscoring that professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to operational mandates are imperative.
The Commandant General stressed the necessity of intelligence sharing and collaboration among various security agencies, promising to boost coordinated efforts to improve national security outcomes.
Following the meeting, Audi distributed an array of modern operational equipment to state formation commanders, intended to boost surveillance capabilities, improve response times, and ensure officer safety.
Each state formation received three drones for aerial monitoring; advanced backpacks equipped with mini tablets, solar chargers, GPS trackers, and connectivity kits for real-time personnel monitoring.
Additionally, the distribution included 100 bulletproof vests, helmets, combat boots, knee and ankle guards; night-vision goggles; uniforms; berets; shocking batons; chain cutters; flashlight batons; pen recorders; body cameras; binoculars; water dispensers; and official copies of the NSCDC Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedure manuals.
