The Ondo State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly refuted reports suggesting the dissolution of its State Executive Committee, characterizing the purported decision as misleading and contrary to the party's constitution.

During a press briefing held at the party's secretariat in Akure over the weekend, the state chairman, Dupe Aisida, affirmed that the party's leadership in the state remains intact and fully functional. He emphasized that no official communication from the national leadership sanctioning such a move had been received.

Aisida highlighted that the party leadership became aware of the alleged dissolution through a press statement circulating on social media, attributed to an individual claiming to represent a National Caretaker Working Committee. This announcement reportedly came as a surprise to the state executives.

He asserted that the current state leadership was legitimately elected through congresses that adhered strictly to the party's constitutional provisions.

"On Sunday evening, a letter began circulating online and on social media, purportedly from someone identifying as the National Publicity Secretary of our party's Caretaker Committee, announcing the dissolution of the Ondo State Executive Committee. This news was certainly unexpected for us," Aisida stated.

Aisida further underscored that the ward congresses, held across all 203 wards in the state on September 13, 2025, were observed by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS). He noted that all observers submitted reports validating the compliance of the exercise with the party's guidelines.

"The ward congress was conducted in all 203 wards in Ondo State. Representatives from INEC, the police, the DSS, and other stakeholders were present, and they all provided reports confirming that everything was conducted in accordance with the established guidelines," he confirmed.

He elaborated that the local government congresses, which took place on September 17, 2025, in all 18 local government areas of the state, also underwent similar supervision.

"We held our local government congresses in all 18 councils. Once again, INEC, the DSS, the police, and other agencies monitored the proceedings, and all confirmed the successful completion of these congresses," he added.

The state congress, held on September 27, 2025, in Akure, was described as peaceful and orderly, with no petitions filed challenging its outcome at any level.

"Significantly, appeal committees were established for the ward, local government, and state congresses. However, not a single petition was filed, indicating the seamless and transparent nature of the entire process," he remarked.

Following these congresses, Aisida stated that the newly elected executives were inaugurated and have since begun their work, focusing on strengthening the opposition party's presence in the state.
