Officers from the Ondo State Police Command have successfully freed a kidnap victim and taken a suspect into custody, linked to a kidnapping syndicate, in Isua Akoko, as a result of a prompt, intelligence-led operation. The development followed a report made on April 10, 2026, to the Isua Police Division by a local resident named Ahmadu, who expressed concern over the disappearance of one of two young men involved in cattle herding at Ipesi Akoko.
Responding swiftly, police operatives initiated a comprehensive search operation that culminated in the safe recovery of the victim.
The individual who was rescued recounted that he was abducted during the night by three individuals armed with weapons.
During an attempted escape, the victim managed to sustain a head injury on one of his abductors.
Acting on detailed information supplied by the rescued individual, law enforcement officers located and arrested a suspect exhibiting a head wound at the Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua around 6:09 a.m.
The arrested suspect reportedly admitted to his involvement in the criminal act and was subsequently identified by the victim.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital for medical attention, while the suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further inquiries and subsequent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, extended commendations to the public for furnishing timely and valuable information, emphasizing that collaboration with the community is crucial in the ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities.
He reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to eradicating kidnapping and other forms of violent crime throughout the state.
