The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully thwarted an impending attack orchestrated by armed bandits on residents of Ruwan Dorowa District, reinforcing its continuous commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the region.
According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the attempted assault took place around 8 PM as a significant number of gunmen reportedly infiltrated the community through the Maru axis.
The assailants were reportedly targeting individuals who were engaged in Isha’i prayers at the time.
Responding to credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer rapidly assembled a strike team in coordination with military personnel to the affected vicinity. Upon noticing the presence of the joint security forces, the bandits opened fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
Nonetheless, the security operatives demonstrated superior firepower and strategic tactics, compelling the assailants to retreat into the nearby wilderness, with some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.
DSP Yazid affirmed that patrol operations and surveillance measures have been enhanced in and around the district to deter any further threats and to instill a sense of safety among residents.
He encouraged the public to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to provide timely and useful information to support security operations.
The command reiterated its unwavering commitment to executing aggressive operations against banditry and other criminal activities, assuring the residents that it remains steadfast in its mission to cleanse Zamfara State of criminal elements and ensure public safety.
