The governors in Nigeria have revealed that they are poised to forward proposals for the creation of state police forces to the National Assembly.
Following a Sallah visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, stated that discussions with security agencies are ongoing under the guidance of the National Security Adviser.
He mentioned that governors have put forth recommendations aimed at establishing a legislative framework that would permit states to have their own policing systems.
Additionally, the forum has committed to enhanced collaboration with federal security entities to tackle terrorism and improve safety nationwide, in response to increasing worries surrounding issues such as banditry and insurgency.
