A Nigerian lady has brought attention to the pressing issue of housing accessibility and affordability in the Ajah area of Lagos by documenting her personal experience.
In a widely circulated video, the woman recounted her previous living situation where she paid a monthly rent of ₦5,000 for accommodation inside a container. She detailed the significant challenge of this dwelling, particularly during periods of heavy rain, which often led to flooding.
To cope with the recurring flooding, she explained that she resorted to raising her bed each time it rained, a difficult measure to keep her sleeping space dry.
Furthermore, she took the opportunity to offer advice to individuals contemplating a move to Lagos, emphasizing the critical need for a reliable support system or network.
She noted that many overlook the warnings about relocating to the bustling city without having someone to depend on or a temporary place to stay.
The lady also showed her new apartment, but expressed her dissatisfaction with its surprisingly small dimensions.
Despite the compact size of the new accommodation, she disclosed that the total cost for the space amounted to ₦280,000.
The video shared by the woman offers a stark glimpse into the realities faced by many in Lagos, highlighting the disparities in living standards and the constant struggle for adequate shelter.
