The Renewed Hope Female Aspirants Network (RHFAN) has made an appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to implement strategies that advance gender equality, broaden electoral chances for female candidates, and offer both training and financial support to women in political roles.

In its commitment to enhancing women's involvement in Nigerian politics, RHFAN is pushing for the adoption of a policy that mandates 35% affirmative action concerning political appointments at all governmental levels.

On Monday, the organization hosted a press conference in Abuja under the theme "From Aspiration to Representation: A Renewed Hope for Inclusive Political Participation."

During her welcoming remarks, Hon. Tonbra Sebrina Ekiotenne, the National Coordinator of RHFAN, highlighted that boosting female participation in decision-making processes contributes to more inclusive governance, responsive policymaking, and sustainable development in the nation.

She asserted that Nigeria cannot realize its potential while half of its populace is sidelined in governance.

Ekiotenne urged political parties, governmental bodies, and all relevant stakeholders to go beyond mere speeches and commit to genuine inclusion of women in both elected and appointed positions.

"As women, we are not just passive recipients of this vision—we are essential contributors to it.

At RHFAN, our goal is to identify, support, and empower women across Nigeria to claim their rightful leadership roles," she stated.

Dr. Judith Etuk Ogbara, the keynote speaker and National Spokesperson for RHFAN, stressed the importance of the intentional inclusion of women in significant decision-making roles.

She mentioned that the organization is in alignment with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes national development and the strengthening of democracy.

Among the critical demands made by the group are the elevation of political appointments for women, enhanced backing for female candidates in elections, and increased participation of women across various sectors.

Additionally, RHFAN advocates for structured training programs and consistent financial assistance for female political aspirants.

Dr. Ogbara noted that RHFAN's initiatives have already started to instill hope for a democracy that is more inclusive.

According to her, the network is actively engaging, mentoring, and offering support to women in all geopolitical areas of Nigeria.

While acknowledging the government's positive reception, she reiterated the necessity for tangible measures, including policy reforms and supportive systems that facilitate greater women’s participation in politics.

Furthermore, she pointed out that RHFAN is committed to working alongside governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to cultivate a more inclusive political environment where women are instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s future.
