The Rivers State Police Command has announced the appointment of Blessing Agabe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), as its new spokesperson. This decision was reportedly sanctioned by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The announcement was made in Port Harcourt via a statement from the outgoing spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko. Ms Agabe, who was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force in 2023 after undergoing training at the Nigeria Police Academy, previously held the position of second-in-command at the Police Public Relations Office within the Rivers Command.
Ms Agabe holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Police Academy and a Master of Laws from Rivers State University. Her professional development includes specialized training in combat operations and counter-terrorism at Ende Hills, Nasarawa, as well as leadership training at Shere Hills, Jos.
Throughout her career, Ms Agabe has served in various capacities, including at the Divisional Police Station in Okporo and the Human Rights Section. Her experience prior to this new role involved serving as Second-in-Command in the Police Public Relations Office of the Rivers Command.
Originally from the Ogoni area of Tai Local Government Area in Rivers State, Ms Agabe is expected to bring her experience to bear in her new role.
Ms Iringe-Koko expressed confidence in the new appointee, assuring the public of continued transparency and enhanced police-community engagement under Ms Agabe's leadership.
