Stephen Ntukekpo has been re-elected as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State as of Tuesday.
His return to leadership was confirmed through a consensus during the party's congress conducted at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The event, which was supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a delegation from the national secretariat of the APC, led to the election of Aniekan Ekpo and Nsetim Akpabio as deputy chairman and secretary, respectively.
In his acceptance address, Mr. Ntukekpo expressed gratitude to the party leaders and delegates for their trust in him.
He pledged to collaborate with the state executive members to enhance the party's visibility and support within Akwa Ibom.
“I express my heartfelt thanks to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for their unwavering commitment to the party's advancement,” he stated.
Furthermore, he affirmed his dedication to ensuring the party's triumph in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Senate President Akpabio, while addressing the congress, voiced his satisfaction with the peaceful manner of the congress, describing the event as “historically significant, orderly, and commendable.”
He urged the newly elected executives to embrace unity, cooperation, and resilience in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Akpabio also praised Governor Eno and other party dignitaries for their role in the smooth conduct of the congress.
Governor Eno expressed his joy and thankfulness to God for the successful and tranquil proceedings of the congress. He encouraged the new party leadership to remain diligent and steadfast to sustain the party's strength in the state.
“This gathering marks a remarkable moment as we unite as a political family, showcasing solidarity and friendship among all members. This can only be attributed to divine intervention, and I give all glory to God,” Governor Eno remarked.
In conclusion, he took the opportunity to acknowledge President Bola Tinubu for his commendable contributions to the state's development.
