Three Individuals Remanded for Assault on Oyo Fire Service Personnel

Three individuals have been charged in the Ejioku Magistrate Court for reportedly attacking Oyo State Fire Service workers while on duty. They are currently held at Agodi Correctional Centre pending further legal actions.

Three individuals were presented before the Ejioku Magistrate Court in the Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State after being accused of assaulting officials from the Oyo State Fire Service during their duty.

The accused have been ordered to be held at the Agodi Correctional Centre while waiting for the next steps in the legal process. Reports indicate that the incident took place in Atari-Agbon, situated in the Olodo area of Lagelu Local Government, where fire service personnel were responding to a fire emergency. It is alleged that the attackers ambushed the officers while trying to steal valuables from the scene.

Maroof Akinwande, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, verified that during the confrontation, one of the fire service officials sustained injuries and required hospitalization.

In an update provided on Tuesday, February 17, Akinwande disclosed that the three individuals faced charges that included assault, conspiracy, and actions likely to disturb public peace.

"The three persons were brought before the Ejioku Magistrate’s court early this morning (Tuesday) for the assault on fire officers in the Oki area. They are also charged with conspiracy and for actions that might disrupt public order. Three have been arraigned while others remain fugitives. Currently, they are held at Agodi prison. The case is set for adjournment until March 12, 2026," he stated.

Officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and capture additional suspects who are still on the run.
