President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived back in Nigeria after attending the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), where he held discussions with international leaders regarding sustainability, climate initiatives, and economic collaboration.
During the summit, Nigeria finalized a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates, aimed at strengthening their economic relationship and increasing trade and investment exchanges between the two nations.
This agreement is projected to boost cooperation in vital industries such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy. It is also anticipated to facilitate technology transfers and encourage private sector partnerships.
While speaking to attendees at the summit, President Tinubu revealed that Nigeria and the UAE would jointly facilitate an INVESTOPIA forum in Lagos come February, with the intention of attracting foreign investors and highlighting Nigeria's economic opportunities driven by recent reforms.
Moreover, the President informed global leaders that Nigeria aims to mobilize up to $30 billion each year for climate and green industrial financing as part of its ongoing energy transition initiatives and efforts to expand electricity availability throughout the country.
The discussions in Abu Dhabi were part of Nigeria's larger strategy to establish itself as a climate-smart economy and a premier destination for sustainable investments within Africa.
