Tottenham Hotspur has decided to part ways with Thomas Frank, just eight months after appointing him as head coach.
The club's choice to dismiss him came following a troublesome 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle, which marked the team’s 11th loss in the league this season.
Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, Spurs find themselves only five points clear of the relegation zone after a series of poor performances.
The North London team has not won in their last eight Premier League matches, which represents their longest winless streak since October 2008.
In their past 17 league encounters, they have managed to secure only two victories, accumulating just 12 points in that span.
Frank took the helm in June after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou and signed a contract running until 2028. However, despite faring well in European competitions, he struggled to significantly enhance the club's league results.
This season, the Danish manager oversaw a Premier League record comprising seven wins, eight draws, and eleven defeats, while also guiding Spurs to the knockout stages of the Champions League by finishing fourth in their group.
During his tenure, Frank achieved just 13 wins out of 38 matches, with the recent loss to Newcastle recording the lowest winning percentage for a Spurs manager in the Premier League era at merely 26.9%.
The departure of the 52-year-old means that Tottenham is now in search of their sixth permanent manager in seven years, following the exit of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019.
Frank's replacement will inherit a squad that has been eliminated from domestic cup competitions but is still participating in the knockout phase of the Champions League, thanks to his recent efforts that secured a fourth-place finish in the group table.
