A shooting in Chicago's Auburn Gresham area on February 4 resulted in the death of a woman and left a man injured. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. on the 7900 block of S. May St. as per police reports.
Video footage captured the terrifying moment when three masked suspects approached the couple's vehicle during the daytime and began firing shots at it.
Responding officers discovered two victims in the vehicle: a 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, both of whom suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The police stated that, amidst the chaos, the couple's car collided with a nearby GMC van, whose driver declined medical assistance at the scene.
The female victim was rushed to LCM Hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries. In contrast, the male victim, who was also shot multiple times, is currently reported to be in stable condition.
A witness informed WGN-TV that a baby was removed from the vehicle's back seat after the shooting. Currently, the baby’s welfare is unconfirmed, as is the child's relationship to the victims.
Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with this incident. They are encouraging anyone with further information to come forward with anonymous tips.
