Reports indicate that two Chelsea supporters suffered stab wounds in Naples after being chased through the streets by about 25 Napoli ultras.
Following the incident, Chelsea fans visiting Naples have been advised to exercise extreme caution, as the injured fans were taken to the hospital the same night.
The two individuals were in Naples with a larger group of Chelsea fans in anticipation of their crucial Champions League match against Napoli scheduled for that evening.
A close acquaintance of one of the attacked supporters recounted, "We were at a bar having a few drinks before deciding to move to another bar. As we walked, we turned a corner and encountered a mob of 25 fans yelling at us, asking where we were from."
He continued, "We all ran; however, one of my friends was caught and started conversing with them before being stabbed in the lower leg. He was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be fine, but it was a terrifying experience."
Chelsea FC has acknowledged the incident, releasing a statement that reads, "The club is aware of an incident that occurred on Tuesday evening in Naples, where two fans have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries."
The statement further urged supporters to maintain an extra level of caution while in the city and to adhere to the guidelines issued before the match.
Moreover, the club has strongly recommended that fans refrain from venturing out alone in Naples and avoid wearing Chelsea-related attire to reduce the risk of similar incidents.
