The Ekiti State Police Command has brought charges against two individuals, Ilori Idowu, aged 40, and Akintade Seun, aged 42, in front of a Chief Magistrate Court located in Ado-Ekiti concerning the suspected illegal disposal of waste in a site unauthorized by local authorities.
During the proceedings, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, representing the prosecution, informed the court that on January 20, 2026, around 7:30 a.m., the defendants were found disposing of refuse at a location within Ado-Ekiti that the government did not allocate for waste disposal.
Inspector Oriyomi further explained that the alleged actions violate Section 29(1)(b) of the Ekiti Waste Management Authority Law of 2020, which is subject to penalties outlined in Section 29(2) of the same law.
The defendants' legal representative, Barrister O.G. Abiola, requested the court for their bail, assuring the Magistrate that his clients would comply with the existing legal processes.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun granted them bail, setting the amount at N10,000 each, with a requirement for a surety of equal responsibility.
The hearing in this matter has been scheduled for February 9, 2026, marking the next step in proceedings related to the case.
