The police are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two teenagers at a holiday park. Emergency responders were called to Little Eden Holiday Park in Bridlington on Wednesday, February 18, following concerns for safety.
Upon arrival, they found the bodies of a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl inside a rental property, which have been declared as having unexplained circumstances surrounding their deaths.
A 33-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is presently being held for further questioning. Humberside Police are particularly considering the possibility that the teenagers' deaths could be linked to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Chf Supt Matt Peach stated, "Emergency services responded promptly to the situation at the holiday park, where, regrettably, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were pronounced dead within the property.
“This situation is extremely distressing and heartbreaking for the families involved, and they remain a priority in our thoughts and actions.
"Specially trained officers are providing ongoing support to the families at this difficult time, and we ask the public to avoid speculation and respect their need for privacy.
“We have a cordon in place to facilitate ongoing inquiries. We are collaborating closely with Humberside Fire & Rescue, the Health and Safety Executive, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ascertain the full circumstances related to this incident.
“A dedicated team is undertaking thorough investigations, some of which are intricate and require additional time. I can confirm that a 33-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is currently in custody.
“While we are still in the initial stages of our investigation and at this time the deaths remain unexplained, we are following leads that suggest a potential connection to carbon monoxide poisoning, with further inquiries being conducted alongside our partner agencies.
“Emergency Services and our partners have approached all other residences on the site to provide safety advice and support.
“We understand the shock and concern this may cause within the local community, and I want to assure everyone that we will make every effort to uncover exactly what transpired.
“Residents will observe a higher police presence in the area as we continue our work, and we will release additional updates when available.”
