A man, whose identity remains unknown, was stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers in Kaduna State.
The tragic event took place around 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, near the Kawo Bridge.
Reports indicate that the victim was in a hurry to catch a commercial tricycle when the attackers intercepted him.
Witnesses stated that the assailants demanded the victim's mobile phone.
While attempting to comply with their demands, one of the attackers reportedly stabbed him in the chest.
"Youths confronted him for his phone. We observed from a distance and did not hear what was said. As he tried to pass the phone, one of them suddenly stabbed him, causing him to fall," recalled a bystander.
After the attack, the assailants quickly fled the scene, leaving the victim on the ground in a pool of blood.
Passersby who rushed to assist were unable to capture the fleeing suspects.
Local resident Bashir Umar described Kawo Bridge as a hotspot for criminal activities, urging law enforcement to enhance security measures in the vicinity.
"This is not the first such incident here. Last year, a Navy officer was killed for refusing to give up his phone. Commuters are in constant danger," he added.
Tradespeople near the bridge also voiced their concerns over increasing insecurity, calling for swift action from authorities.
"We need increased police presence and surveillance cameras installed to apprehend these criminals," urged a trader.
