Victor Osimhen, the forward for Galatasaray, may start wearing protective arm gear as he returns to the field after undergoing surgery for a fracture.
The 27-year-old striker suffered a hand fracture due to a clash with Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool during their UEFA Champions League encounter last week.
Earlier this week, Osimhen had the necessary surgery and his recovery period has been estimated to take about six weeks, suggesting a possible return to action near the season's conclusion.
Turkish journalist Arda Özkurt reported through Winner Galatasaray, stating, "If Victor Osimhen’s treatment progresses well, he may wear a jersey equipped with a special protective splint if it becomes necessary."
Following a cheekbone surgery in 2021, the striker has already been using a protective mask on his face.
Reports from Turkish media indicate that Osimhen might make his return in time for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, contingent on how well his rehabilitation proceeds.
This season, Osimhen has recorded 19 goals and seven assists over 29 matches in all competitions, contributing significantly to Galatasaray’s lead in the league by four points. In the UEFA Champions League, he has netted seven goals and provided three assists in 10 matches prior to their elimination.
