Nuno EspÃrito Santo, the head coach of West Ham United, has advised winger Adama Traoré to refrain from engaging in heavy weightlifting sessions at the club's Rush Green training ground, due to Traoré's inherent muscular physique.
The 30-year-old Spanish winger made a permanent switch to West Ham United F.C. from Fulham in January and had previously worked with Nuno during their tenure at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Nuno characterized Traoré's physique as remarkable, emphasizing that the primary objective should be to preserve his natural speed and strength instead of adding more muscle mass.
He noted that Traoré's physique is predominantly hereditary and recommended that the player minimize intense gym workouts, instead focusing on recovery and exercises aimed at preventing injuries.
The coach also differentiated between Traoré's training regimen and those of younger players who require muscle development, pointing to academy players who spend extensive hours on physical conditioning. He highlighted that training programs at the club are tailored according to individual physical requirements.
Since joining West Ham, Traoré has mainly served as a substitute, participating in matches against teams like Chelsea, Burnley, Manchester United, and Liverpool. Prior to his transfer, he had made 15 appearances for Fulham earlier in the season.
In January, West Ham's recruitment strategy also brought in players such as Pablo Felipe, Taty Castellanos, Axel Disasi, and Keiber Lamadrid, with several new arrivals already making positive contributions, while others are still on the mend from injuries.
