The White House celebrated Valentine’s Day this year with a selection of playful and politically charged cards that were shared on social media, blending traditional holiday sentiments with pointed political messages.
One of the cards depicted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, shown in handcuffs and blindfolded, supposedly being extracted from Venezuela following his capture, alongside the phrase, “You captured my heart.”
Another card illustrated President Donald Trump holding an executive order presented as a Valentine’s card with the words “UR My Valentine.”
Adding to the array, there was a card featuring Senator Chris Van Hollen alongside former ICE detainee Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador, framed within a heart. This card bore the messages: “My love for you is as strong as Democrats love for illegal aliens” and “I’d fly 1,537 miles to have a drink with you!”
Additionally, a Greenland-themed card portrayed a heart-shaped image of the island accompanied by the phrase, “It’s time we define our situationship,” alluding to Trump’s past remarks about acquiring Greenland.
The White House later shared a more conventional Valentine’s message that featured Trump and Melania Trump walking hand-in-hand, captioned with a simple, “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
