The Zamfara State Police have successfully freed Abdullahi Isah Nagari, who was reportedly abducted by armed bandits in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, on January 29, 2026, the victim was located tied to a tree with a machete injury on his hand.
DSP Yazid mentioned that Nagari was rushed to the General Hospital in Tsafe for urgent medical care.
Images shared by family and friends revealed that Nagari had lost one of his hands due to the attack.
The police and military collaborated in the rescue operation, responding swiftly after receiving reports about the abduction. DSP Yazid stated that the operation led to the victim's recovery and underscored ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the crime. Security patrols have also been heightened in the area to deter further incidents.
As detailed in the statement, armed bandits invaded Abdullahi Isah Nagari's home on January 29, 2026, located on the outskirts of Tsafe Town, and abducted him to an undisclosed location.
Upon being alerted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tsafe Division acted promptly by mobilizing his team in collaboration with the Military's Operation Fansan Yamma to conduct a coordinated rescue.
During their search of nearby bushes, the victim was found and rescued while being tied to a tree with injuries to his hand caused by a machete.
Following his rescue, he was transported to the General Hospital in Tsafe, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible for the abduction, and security vigilance has been intensified in the region to prevent future occurrences.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, reassured the public of the command's dedication to protecting lives and properties across the state, urging residents to share timely information with security agencies for appropriate action.
