On Saturday, the Zamfara State Government officially formed a committee tasked with preparing for Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima's impending visit to the state on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
During the event, Mr. Shettima is expected to formally welcome Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a significant occasion.
The committee, led by Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni, includes stakeholders from Governor Lawal’s faction and existing members of the APC. Its goal is to ensure the event's success.
In his address during the inauguration, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, underscored that the committee would also focus on promoting unity within the party, ensuring every member feels included, and facilitating a smooth integration process ahead of Governor Lawal’s induction into the APC.
Deputy Governor Mummuni urged committee members to approach their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication. He mentioned that as a party leader, Governor Lawal is committed to treating all members fairly.
Furthermore, State APC Chairman Tukur Umar Danfulani appealed to party members to embrace the recent developments positively, noting that Zamfara has transformed into a unified and progressive family.
Following Governor Lawal's shift to the APC, the party has welcomed approximately 210,539 new members as of 3:30 PM on March 21, reflecting the governor's substantial grassroots appeal. This increase raises the total APC membership to 308,539 when combined with the 97,710 members registered prior to Governor Lawal's party switch.
