Abia Governor Recognizes Outstanding Ex-NYSC Members with Jobs, Cash

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has awarded automatic employment and N500,000 cash gifts to two former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Solomon Abonyi and Esther Aderibigbe, for their significant contributions to the state's development. The duo also received state honour awards.

Two former participants in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme have been presented with the Abia State Honours Award, along with offers of immediate employment and N500,000 each. The recipients, Solomon Abonyi and Esther Aderibigbe, were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the socio-economic advancement of Abia State during their service year.

Mr. Abonyi, who hails from Enugu State, completed his service after studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Ms. Aderibigbe, a nursing graduate from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, is from Osun State. Both received commendations from Governor Alex Otti, who also presented them with certificates of honour.

In his address, Mr. Abonyi expressed profound gratitude to the governor for the award, stating that such recognition serves as a powerful motivator for continued service to humanity. He highlighted the positive impact of the award on their future endeavors.

This event took place alongside the formal handover ceremony where Tanimu Yunusa assumed office as the 18th NYSC state coordinator for Abia. He succeeded Gladys Adama, who has been redeployed to the NYSC National Headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Yunusa, originally from Sokoto State, takes charge of the NYSC operations in Abia, vowing to maintain an open-door policy and prioritize staff welfare.
