In pursuit of an increasingly integrated global digital future, ITREALMS Media Group is proud to announce the 2026 edition of the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum (NDSF), which focuses on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D).
The forum is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11, at the Welcome Centre Hotels in Ikeja, Lagos, and will convene policymakers, technological innovators, and civil society stakeholders around the theme: 'Sustaining WSIS Vision with Multistakeholder Synergy in Nigeria.'
This year’s theme resonates with the recent UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, reaffirming the vision of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The 2026 NDSF aims to focus on the essential need to connect all citizens, improve the affordability of digital technologies, and escalate investments in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to combat the growing digital divide.
Remmy Nweke, Group Executive Editor and Lead Consulting Strategist at ITREALMS Media, highlighted the importance of collaborative security for the stability of Nigeria's digital economy while commenting on the upcoming event.
"Building an inclusive, open, and secure digital environment is crucial," Nweke added. "Beyond mere connectivity, we must safeguard our digital ecosystem, especially for children, and ensure its resilience against global risks. The 2026 NDSF will function as a catalyst to promote the multistakeholder partnerships needed to achieve these objectives."
Key themes to be discussed at NDSF 2026 include:
\- Focus on Emerging Technologies: Discussion on IPv6 adoption, Domain Name System (DNS) security, and advancements in Digital Public Infrastructure.
\- Child Online Protection: Strategies aimed at establishing a safer online environment for the youth.
\- Strategic Partnerships: Continuing the collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), NITDA, and the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).
\- Smart Infrastructure: Exploring how telecommunications and satellite technologies can further the "Smart Nigeria" initiative.
The forum will feature a keynote lecture titled "Sustaining the WSIS Vision via Telecoms: Driving Multistakeholder Synergy for Nigeria’s Future," expected to be presented by leaders from top regulatory institutions in Nigeria.
Since its launch, the NDSF, organized by DigitalSENSE Africa (DSA), recognized by ICANN as an At-Large Structure, has been proactive in inspiring public discourse on the benefits of advancing internet governance for business and technology.
Members of the media, ICT sector stakeholders, and the general public are encouraged to participate in this important event aimed at shaping Nigeria's digital landscape.
