The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken into custody a suspect associated with the assault on a church in Kogi State.

The individual, named Shafiu Usman, is reported to have orchestrated the deadly attack that occurred on December 14, 2025, at the First ECWA Church located in Ayetoro Kiri, within the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the North-Central region.

On December 14, 2025, armed assailants believed to be terrorists attacked the First Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).

This incident reportedly unfolded when the intruders invaded the church during a worship gathering, firing weapons indiscriminately to incite panic among the congregants.

Witnesses stated that the attackers arrived while the service was ongoing, leading many attendees to flee, while an unknown number of individuals were abducted and taken through adjacent bush trails.

The assault instilled a sense of confusion and fear within the community, as residents hurried to find safety amidst the gunfire.
