A math educator in Florida has been apprehended on suspicion of unlawful sexual conduct with a student. The situation came to light after the student reportedly misled his parents about his whereabouts, which ultimately led to the discovery of the relationship.
Kirsten Rose, aged 37, was taken into custody on Friday, April 10th. According to court documents obtained by WPEC-TV, the alleged relationship began with online interactions on Instagram sometime last year, extending into the current year.
Authorities allege that the sexual encounters between Rose and the student occurred in February and March. The student's parents reportedly grew concerned when he returned home late one evening. Upon checking his location, they found he was at an unfamiliar residence.
When questioned, the student initially claimed he was with his "girlfriend," but did not disclose her identity. Further questioning by his parents eventually led to the revelation that he was involved with his teacher.
Rose, who was employed at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School, has been charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She is currently being held without bail at the Brevard County Jail as the investigation continues. Her arraignment is scheduled for May 5th.
