Floyd Mayweather has expressed skepticism about the anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao, revealing that the event may not proceed as expected and could be redefined as an exhibition rather than a conventional fight.

During a recent appearance at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Mayweather mentioned the ongoing uncertainty surrounding both the location and the format of the bout, which was originally scheduled for September 19.

"At this moment, we are not certain where the fight will take place," Mayweather stated. "The venue remains unknown... Furthermore, this isn’t actually a fight; it’s an exhibition."

These remarks stand in contrast to earlier declarations, which included a revelation in February linked to Netflix and announcements suggesting a return to professional boxing through a series of fights.

Pacquiao’s team has firmly maintained that he would only engage in a sanctioned fight against Mayweather. The renowned Filipino boxer made a comeback from retirement with a majority draw against Mario Barrios in his last match.

Mayweather, who is 49 years old, also hinted that future exhibition matches remain uncertain, including a previously announced event with Mike Tyson and another against Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis in Athens—both of which currently lack confirmed dates and locations.

"It's an exhibition, so we are both winners," Mayweather noted. "Our goal is to go out, entertain the audience, and deliver an enjoyable experience."
