Frank Lampard highlighted the valuable Premier League experience and leadership Frank Onyeka contributes to Coventry City as they strive for promotion to the top tier of English football.
The Nigerian international made his move to the Championship leaders on loan from Brentford FC during the transfer window's final day in February and has participated in all four matches since his arrival, coinciding with four consecutive wins for Coventry.
Lampard pointed out that the decision to bring in the 28-year-old midfielder was influenced by the team's need for seasoned players who have competed at the highest level, especially since the squad lacks ample Premier League exposure.
"When we signed him, our playing profile was lacking in Premier League experience," Lampard mentioned. "Not many of our players have had the chance to play in the Premier League, while some rival Championship teams possess significant experience in that regard.
"His presence brings not just experience, but also a certain know-how to his performance. He has made a considerable impact both on and off the pitch. His professionalism stands out, and it is clear that he has contributed positively to our recent performance surge."
Onyeka was replaced after sustaining a minor injury during Coventry's recent win against Stoke City FC. However, Lampard expressed optimism about his availability for their next match.
Coventry is set to take on Bristol City FC at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday. "He hasn't participated much in training, but he's scheduled to train today, and we'll assess his condition then," Lampard concluded.
