The funeral service for the remains of Joseph Imukudo, the recently deceased retired priest of The African Church, is set to take place on Friday, April 10, at the Ikot Ebak Community in the Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Joseph Imukudo was the father of Saviour Imukudo, a reporter at PREMIUM TIMES.
He passed away on November 2, 2025, at 66, following a brief illness. Born on July 7, 1959, Imukudo hailed from Ikot Ebak, Mkpat Enin.
His son, Saviour Imukudo, who served as the chief mourner, shared the funeral arrangements in a press statement on Monday.
Funeral Details
As outlined in the statement, mourning activities will commence on April 6 with the opening of the mourning house at the deceased's residence in Ikot Ebak.
A Service of Hymns is scheduled for April 9 at St. Stephen’s African Church, Ikot Ebak, starting at 6 p.m.
On the day of the burial, April 10, the body will be displayed at the deceased's residence from 9 a.m., followed by a short commendation service at St. Stephen’s African Church at 10 a.m. Subsequently, a motorcade will escort the body for burial at 11 a.m. at the grounds of Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary School.
Family and friends, along with well-wishers, have been invited to attend the funeral service.
About Joseph Imukudo
Joseph Imukudo dedicated more than thirty years to The African Church, commencing his clerical career in 1986. He became a deacon in 1992, attained the priesthood in 1993, and was promoted to archdeacon in 2003. He retired honorably in May 2023 after 37 years of dedicated service.
Before his retirement, Imukudo ministered at The African Church, Trinity Archdeaconry in Okop Ndua Erong, within the Uyo Central Diocese located in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area. His ministry focused on repentance, discipline, and reconciliation with strong emphasis on community development and moral guidance.
Post-retirement, he was appointed as an adviser to the Nung Odung Family in Ikot Ebak.
