A pastor has been taken into custody in connection with allegations of attempting to bury a five-month-old infant alive. The incident reportedly took place in Abofrem, within the Atwima Mponua District of Ghana's Ashanti Region, drawing shock from the local community.

The accused individual, identified as Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, leads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry situated at Kuffour Camp. His arrest followed the alleged event that has disturbed residents.

According to accounts from individuals who witnessed the scene, the pastor and an accomplice were observed at a refuse disposal site around 11 p.m. Their presence and actions were reportedly suspicious.

One eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, intervened after noticing unusual activity. He stated that upon investigation, he discovered the baby was still alive and was seemingly on the verge of being buried.

Agbah raised an alarm, leading to swift action that is credited with preventing a tragic outcome.

Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, confirmed that the pastor had informed him earlier that the baby had passed away, prompting discussions about burial arrangements.

However, Nana Yaw Badu stated that he was unaware the child was still alive at the time.

The infant, a girl, is currently receiving medical attention at a government healthcare facility.

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the suspect and his accomplice, who are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
