Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has declared that his administration is set to initiate the renovation of district heads’ palaces throughout the state.
The announcement was made during a reception for His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, who paid a Sallah homage at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.
Aliyu emphasized that the renovation project is designed to ensure district heads, recognized as the traditional leaders closest to the communities, have adequate accommodation to perform their duties effectively.
"We are aware of the poor state of many district heads’ palaces in the state. Very soon, we will commence their renovation, starting with the palace of the District Head of Wurno," the governor stated.
Additionally, Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration's commitment to collaborate with the Sultanate Council to tackle pressing issues impacting rural areas, especially concerning security.
He also pledged to continue the ongoing infrastructural development and urban renewal initiatives across the state.
In a message to the public, he invited residents to share suggestions and constructive feedback to help propel the state forward, while expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and cooperation.
Earlier, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III praised Governor Aliyu for implementing various community-oriented projects throughout Sokoto.
He assured the governor of the Sultanate Council’s steadfast backing for his transformative efforts, which include infrastructural growth, food programs, and empowerment initiatives.
"We take great pride in our governor, and we fully support his initiatives for the state," the Sultan remarked, emphasizing the importance of unity amidst social media commentary.
The Sultan also revealed plans for the Sultanate Council to convene a meeting with district heads to discuss complementing the government’s efforts in addressing security challenges. He called for the collaboration and support of all stakeholders in aiding the state's vision for a better Sokoto.
