Governor Dauda Lawal has underscored that development should be apparent, functional, and align with the expectations of the people of Zamfara State.
The governor expressed this sentiment on Friday while inaugurating five key projects in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the initiatives encompass a modernized motor park, an upgraded market, a rehabilitated educational institution, a renovated and fully equipped general hospital, and a restored emir’s palace.
The statement further elaborated that these projects are integral to community engagement, governance, education, healthcare, trade, and transportation, aiming to instill a sense of pride and ownership among local inhabitants.
At the launch event, Governor Lawal articulated that these projects are part of his administration's commitment to fortifying public institutions, reviving essential infrastructure, and ensuring that governance effectively enhances citizens' lives.
He indicated that the revamped Tsafe Emir’s Palace symbolizes leadership continuity, authority, and cultural identity. He acknowledged the pivotal role that traditional institutions play in grassroots governance, serving as beacons of peace, custodians of values, and collaborators in community advancement.
The governor highlighted that the palace's renovation reflects a respect for tradition and recognizes the contributions of traditional rulers in maintaining peace, conflict resolution, and fostering unity, adding that his administration would continue to engage actively with these traditional structures.
Concerning education, Lawal noted that the restoration of the College of Health Technology in Tsafe is designed to enhance the training environment for health workers and bolster human capital development in the state.
Furthermore, he pointed out that revamping the General Hospital, Tsafe, would lead to improved healthcare service delivery, patient experiences, and working conditions for medical staff, reaffirming that accessible, quality healthcare remains a principal focus for his administration.
The governor also considers the reconstructed Tsafe Market and Motor Park crucial for stimulating local economic growth, job creation, and stability, explaining that these facilities would support farmers, vendors, artisans, transporters, and small businesses.
He noted that enhancing these facilities will lead to increased productivity, improved safety, and a structured environment, thus boosting revenue generation and preserving dignity for all users.
Governor Lawal urged traditional leaders, community members, traders, transport operators, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to collectively ensure the protection and maintenance of these new facilities.
He stressed that public infrastructure flourishes when there’s a common sense of ownership and civic duty, asserting that the proper use and upkeep of these facilities would ensure they benefit the community for years to come.
