Joe Cole, a former player for Chelsea FC, has hailed Trevoh Chalobah as the best central defender currently at the club.
Cole, who has consistently praised Chalobah, mentioned that it was a misguided decision to send the defender on loan to Crystal Palace in the previous season.
"He’s been impressive since he walked back in the door," Cole stated during an appearance on the Dressing Room Podcast.
Reflecting on Chelsea's defensive lineup in recent years, Cole expressed concern regarding the club's recruitment approach, specifically mentioning players like Marc Guehi, Chalobah, and Fikayo Tomori, who were let go while substantial funds were invested in new players.
He referred to the acquisitions of Benoît Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and Kalidou Koulibaly, questioning how effectively those choices have served the team over time.
"I still believe Trevoh Chalobah is our best central defender, and he continues to improve. He embodies the values of the club — it was a blunder to let him go. He’s been outstanding and is continually developing," Cole remarked.
