Bayern Munich has officially broken the Bundesliga's all-time record for total goals scored by a team in a single season during their dominant 5-0 victory against St. Pauli on Saturday.
The league leaders arrived at the match having already netted 100 goals in the current campaign, and they surpassed the previous record with their second goal of the evening.
Vincent Kompany's squad has now scored 105 goals, eclipsing the 101-goal benchmark that the club itself had established 54 years prior, in the 1971/72 season.
Jamal Musiala was the first to equal the record, scoring with a header just nine minutes into the game. Leon Goretzka then secured the new record with a volleyed finish in the 53rd minute.
Michael Olise, Nicholas Jackson, and Raphael Guerreiro completed the scoring. Notably, Bayern managed this feat without their star striker Harry Kane, who is the team's leading scorer this season.
The formidable attacking trio of Harry Kane (with 31 goals), Luis Diaz (15 goals), and Michael Olise (12 goals) has collectively contributed over half of the team's total goals, accounting for 58 of them.
With five matches remaining in the season, Bayern has the opportunity to extend this newly established record even further.
The Bavarian giants currently hold 76 points from 29 matches, enjoying a commanding 12-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings and are on the verge of securing the league title once again.
