Lagos Police Apprehend 118 Individuals in April Crime Crackdown

The Lagos State Police Command has reported the arrest of 118 suspects for various offenses during April 2026. The operation aimed to enhance security and combat crime across the state.

In a significant move to bolster security and public safety, the Lagos State Police Command has announced the detention of 118 individuals suspected of involvement in diverse criminal activities throughout April 2026.

During a press conference held yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, highlighted the command's operational achievements, attributing them to intelligence-driven strategies, targeted raids, and effective deployment of personnel in critical areas across Lagos.

Recovered during these operations were a variety of items, including eleven locally manufactured Beretta pistols, a cut-to-size pistol, one English Beretta pistol, two other handguns, nine telecom batteries, four cutlasses, a knife, twenty-one bags of what is believed to be Indian hemp, fetish objects, and other incriminating evidence.

Fatai further detailed that on April 27th, officers apprehended fifty-eight individuals associated with street disturbances, robbery incidents targeting vehicles, and the harassment of commuters along the Lekki corridor.

He identified these suspects as belonging to the notorious "Omotaku Boys" group, allegedly responsible for phone theft, intimidating residents, and causing damage to vehicles.

In a related development, the Commissioner reported that on the same date, April 27th, police operatives successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of kidnapping and murder in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The two suspects have been identified as Elijah Emmanuel, aged 23, and Anthony Ogunata, aged 21.
