Dahiru Usman has been arrested in connection with an alleged phone theft incident that occurred in Unguwar Dodo, Gwagwalada Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to a local resident, Jamilu Danjuma, the alleged crime took place while the victim, a woman, and her two children were sleeping outside their home due to the prevailing heat after turning off their generator.

Danjuma reported that the suspect gained entry into the room and had managed to take three mobile phones, including the woman's, before a neighbour noticed him trying to leave. The neighbour raised an alarm.

Local vigilante members who were on patrol in the area intervened, preventing the suspect from being mobbed and subsequently handed him over to the police.

Markus Yahaya, a member of the vigilante group, identified the arrested individual as a repeat offender, stating that Usman had been apprehended for similar crimes in the past.

A police source confirmed the arrest and indicated that investigations are ongoing, after which the suspect will face charges in court.
