A resident of Abuja, Precious Emike, has shared an account of a man who purportedly set his father's residence on fire because his mother declined his request for money. The event, according to Emike, took place in her neighbourhood on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
She lauded the swift response of the fire service, noting their efforts in containing the fire and averting further damage to surrounding properties.
Emike recounted her experience, stating, "In my 30 something years on earth, yesterday was the first time I saw a house burning live. I've always seen them online." She further elaborated, "A son set his father's house on fire and locked the house because the mum refused to give him money."
She added that five fire service vehicles attended the scene, with one remaining on site at the time of her narrative. "Kudos to the fire service, they really did their best," she concluded.
