The Executive Council of Ogun State has given the green light to a number of significant infrastructure projects and appointments in traditional leadership, all targeted at boosting development and enhancing governance throughout the state.
These strategic decisions were made at an Executive Council meeting held on Friday at the Executive Chamber, chaired by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Among the foremost approvals is the rehabilitation and construction of seven roads spanning three senatorial districts, aimed at improving connectivity and fostering socio-economic activities within the communities.
The approved road projects comprise:
• Molipa Expressway Roundabout to Ibadan Garage via Ejirin–Folagbade Roundabout, Ijebu-Ode – extending 2.3km with a width of 10.3m.
• Bible College Road, Ota, within the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area – additional rehabilitation efforts.
• Ajaka Road connecting Awolowo Market, Sagamu – measuring 870m with a width of 8m.
• Gbadebo Street, Hospital Road, Ayegbami, Sagamu – also stretching 900m, with a width of 8m.
• Okenla Street situated off Imoru Road, Ijebu-Ode – covering 0.53km, width 10m.
• Yemogun Street in Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area – with a length of 1.25km and width of 7.3m.
• The right-hand side of Carwash–Moore Junction Road, located in Adatan, Abeokuta – facing reconstruction.
These initiatives are projected to enhance mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and facilitate more commercial and residential activities within the affected communities.
Additionally, the Council endorsed the reconstruction and completion of the Block E Office Complex within the State Secretariat located at Oke Imosan in Abeokuta (Phase 1). This facility has been rebranded as “Revenue House,” designed to create a productive working environment to bolster revenue generation and improve efficiency across various government agencies. This development represents a part of ongoing measures by the Abiodun administration to modernize public infrastructure and increase internally generated revenue.
In a move to further bolster grassroots governance and uphold traditional institutions, the Council confirmed several traditional leadership appointments, namely:
• Prince Raheem Afolabi Ogunlaja – Nnoku of Iraye, Remo North Local Government Area.
• Prince Tajudeen Adeoye Olukunle – Onisale of Isale, Gbokoto, Yewa North Local Government Area.
• Prince Obajimi Sunday Olatunji – Alodo of Ado, Sagamu.
• Prince Dr. Adesegun Adedapo Ogunsola – Lowa Ibu of Batoro, Sagamu.
• Prince (Elder) Moses Oludotun Fadairo – Baale of Orile Oko.
These confirmations affirm the administration’s ongoing commitment to fortifying traditional institutions, recognizing them as essential partners in community development, security, and socio-cultural integration across Ogun State.
